The 18-hole championship golf course, featuring manicured fairways and greens bordered by holly and dogwood trees, is truly one of the region's best. In addition to four PGA affiliated professionals, golfing members have access to a limited (180 yards) practice facility, putting/chipping green and short game area. Private lessons and group clinics are available throughout the season. The tournament schedule has something to offer the male, female and junior golfers as well as mixed tournaments for the social golfer. At Chartwell, the entire family can enjoy the game of golf. A well stocked golf shop provides convenient shopping for all of the latest styles and technology in clothing and equipment. Below are the new USGA Chartwell golf course ratings. Please note the changes are only to the men's tees. The women's tees are rated by a separate group and were done in the past few years. Overall our slope ratings dropped slightly from ten years ago. White tees dropped from 129 to 126 and Blue tees dropped from 133 to 131. The reason is TREES. The new rating criteria puts less emphasis on trees as well as the fact that we had removed quite a few trees over the past ten years. These new ratings became effective September 1, 2010.
